DYLAN BROWNE-McMonagle finished second at Gowran Park today in his first race under rules this afternoon.

The Letterkenny teenager recently linked up with Joseph O’Brien’s stable in Kilkenny.

In the mile apprentice handicap at Gowran, Browne-McMonagle was second on Harvey Specter, sent away priced at 7/1.

The race was won by Lady In Lavender, the 4/1 favourite.

McMonagle and Harvey Specter came second, five lengths behind.

Browne-McMonagle had a glittering pony racing career.

A two-time National Field champion, he had a total of 218 wins and he won the Dingle Derby in 2015 when he was only 12 years old.

He closed his five-year pony riding career last month with a six-timer at Carrickadawson,

Fellow Donegal man Oisin Orr was ninth on Scorpion Black, the 6/1 shot for Dermot Weld.
