Listen: Mark McHugh happy with Kilcar’s finish after taking ‘eye off the ball’

KILCAR’S Mark McHugh admitted that the Towney men took their eye off the ball in the second half against Killybegs last night.

Kilcar had a scoreless period of 20 minutes, but had enough to beat the Fishermen by nine points and reach the Donegal SFC semi-finals.

First-half goals by Andrew McClean and Patrick McBrearty sent them on their way. Hugh McFadden led the Killybegs challenge, but the damage had been done.

“We won the game by nine points so we got the job done and are happy to get out of here,” McHugh told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“They threw absolutely everything at us in the second half. They came at us and caused us problems inside.

“We kind of took the eye off the ball. That’s not good enough from us. When the going got tough again, we finished well.”
