A man had to receive emergency surgery for facial injuries after being attacked by a dog in Donegal Town.
Gardai have confirmed the incident happened on Sunday morning last.
The man was taken to Galway Unversity Hospital for specialist treatment.
The dog was later taken into the care of the local dog warden and was put down.
Gardai have appealed to dog owners to keep control of their dogs.
