DONEGAL’S newest boxing club, Lifford BC, has its first Ulster Senior finalist.

Barry McGinty of Lifford BC will be in action in the 75kgs Novice Senior final tomorrow night in Belfast with some other Donegal punchers fighting tonight aiming for final spots.

Ballindrait man McGinty will square up to the winner of tonight’s semi-final between Craig Boucher (Legends) and Rhys White (Cairnlodge) at the Dockworkers Club.

The Lifford club is under the direction of former Raphoe puncher Dennis Lafferty, who was an Ulster bantamweight finalist.

Two Donegal men are on a collision course in the heavyweight final.

Dungloe’s returned Dennis O’Donnell is already guaranteed a spor in Friday’s finals.

Illies Golden Gloves’ Michael McConigley can join him, but first he must get past Newry’s Dean McCabe tonight,.

Illies’ Oran Shiels lines up in a light-heavyweight semi-final with Darren McNally from Clonoe, while another Illies man, Charlie Duffy, goes against Edgar Vuskans (Holy Trinity) at welterweight.

There was no joy on Tuesday night for Twin Towns duo PJ Kelly and John Lodder.

Middlewelght Kelly was beaten by Clonoe’s Owen O’Rourke on a unanimous decision while Lodder was stopped by Gareth McDowell in the second round after an encouraging first stanza.

Donegal is guaranteed one title with Illies Golden Gloves’ Caroline Gallagher receiving a walkover at light-welterweight.
