ST NAUL’S manager Barry Meehan hailed his side’s discipline as they reached a second intermediate championship final in three seasons.
Naomh Bríd ate into a six-point deficit in a thrilling semi-final at Fintra, but St Naul’s held onto their lot to win by a point and move into the final.
“We were hanging on for dear life at the very end,” Meehan told Ocean FM’s Paddy McGill afterwards.
“The defending was unreal. We were so disciplined. We spoke last night about our discipline and it was there in the last couple of minute. We shouldn’t have been there. We were six to the good and we took our eye off the ball.”
St Naul’s were well in command thanks to a Michael Coughlan goal, but Naomh Bríd soon caught fire to make a big fist of it.
Meehan said: “We have to be able to see games out better, but we’re happy to be in the final.
“We played into Naomh Bríd’s hands going through the middle. Once we settled ourselves and spoke about things we weren’t doing right, we were okay. When we got it out wide, we opened up pockets.”
