Buncrana Golf: Exciting action as Owen McDaid Winter League takes place

The third round of the Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Winter League took place last weekend and the format was two ball betterball.

With the greens in excellent condition and probably the best greens for putting on in Ulster there were plenty of opportunities to return good scores.

The best score of the weekend was 47 pts returned by two pairings, last years winners Leo Sheehy (16) and Cormac Doherty (18) and Damien Doherty (6) and Jonny Morison (8).

Both these pairings played some excellent golf but by virtue of a superior back nine last years champions Leo & Cormac took the weekly prize and have sent out a message to the rest of the pairings that they will not relinquish their title to easy.

The format this weekend Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October will be a two-ball scramble and if any pairings are still interested in playing they still can enter as there are plenty of opportunities to return the necessary scores.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €950.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Aileen Hallinan Memorial

The Aileen Hallinan Memorial Open Scramble will take place Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th & Monday 28th October. The format will be stableford with 1/7 of the combined handicap and 3 tee shots to count from each player.

Membership

There is a great membership deal at present anyone who joins now can play the remainder of this year and all of 2020 for the normal rate of membership. That’s 15 months for Male €350.00, Lady €232.00, Beginner Male €260.00 and Lady Beginner €190.00 all fees inclusive of G.U.I. / Insurance.

Christmas Hamper

Qualifying for the Annual Christmas Hamper has commenced and the format is as follows; 7 handicaps up 21 pts to qualify and 6 handicaps down 20 pts to qualify. Cards can be taken in conjunction with other competitions and the Christmas Hamper will be played weekend 7th and 8th December.
