THREE Donegal boxers get their 2019 National Senior Championship bids underway this weekend in Dublin.

Illies Golden Gloves trio Michael McConigley, Oran Shields and Matthew McCole are all in action in preliminary bouts on Saturday at the National Stadium.

Middleweight Shields, recently crowned Ulster Senior Champion when he beat Jack Doherty in Belfast, faces Adam Farrell from Fr Flanagan’s.

Heavyweight Michael McConigley, who was beaten by Dungloe’s Denis O’Donnell in his Ulster final, goes against Athlone puncher Marcin Skalski.

Dungloe welterweight McCole enters these Championships under the Illies banner and he meets Christian Preston from Docklands.

Illies welterweight Caroline Gallagher is already through to a semi-final with a date against Celtic Eagles’ Karolina Jaglowska to come on November 1.

The winner will take on Rosie Doherty from St Francis in the November 8 final.
