Council to grit all major roads tonight as temperatures plunge

All the major road routes across the county will be gritted tonight.

This is the first time that Donegal County Council has sent their fleet out.

A council spokesperson confirmed that all Donegal routes are to be gritted from 9pm tonight.

It comes as Met Eireann forecast a dip in temperatures overnight and into the weekend.

Although some amateur forecasters have predicted snow in Donegal, Met Eireann have said any snow will only fall on very high ground.

The following routes will be gritted.

01: National Primary North
02: National Primary Central
04: Inishowen South
05: Inishowen East
06: Inishowen West
07: Milford South
08: Milford North
09: Cill Ulta East
10: Cill Ulta West
11: Na Rosa
12: Binswilly
13: Stranorlar North
14: Stranorlar East
15: Stranorlar West
17: Donegal North
18: Donegal South
LT: Letterkenny Town Priority 1
BT: Buncrana Town Council Priority 1
