The Irish Wheelchair Association launched their national fundraising campaign ‘Angels’ on Wednesday last as they held a karaoke night.

The event took place in the Irish Wheelchair Association’s Community Centre, Glenview, Carnamuggagh, Letterkenny.

The beloved Angel pins and other Angel-themed products will be sold by volunteers throughout County on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th November 2019.

Irish Wheelchair Association’s Angel fundraiser will help provide a range of essential services to people with physical disabilities from its community centres in Donegal and across the country.

Irish Wheelchair Association provides a diverse range of services supporting people with disabilities in their personal development and community life.

In 2018 alone, Irish Wheelchair Association provided over 1.3 million hours of Assisted Living Services to 2,246 adults and children across Ireland and almost 80,000 days of services in community centres nationwide.

Its fleet of 119 buses provided people with disabilities with accessible transport throughout Ireland to connect them to their communities.

Mary McGrenra from Irish Wheelchair Association in Donegal explained: “Irish Wheelchair Associations Angel Appeal is our largest fundraiser of the year. Funds raised from our Angel’s Day campaign help us support people with physical disabilities within our community.

“We provide essential services to people with disabilities that facilitates independence, improves quality of life and supports them in accessing education, employment and participation in community life throughout Donegal.

“Volunteers will be selling Angel pins outside all ALDI stores and in various other locations throughout the county. If you meet our volunteers please purchase an Angels pin or make a donation to ensure people with disabilities can enjoy equal rights, choices and opportunities and live their lives independently.”

This November Irish Wheelchair Association is asking community groups, organisations, businesses, and schools in county Donegal to volunteer their time to assist with the Angels Appeal.

There are lots of ways to get involved; including volunteering to sell Angels pins/products or hosting a coffee morning during November.
