Major electrical fault leaves thousands without power in Letterkenny

More than 2,400 homes and businesses have been hit with an unexpected power cut in Letterkenny this morning (Wednesday).

A major electrical fault struck in at 9.48am, affecting 2,454 ESB customers.

The outage has affected properties in the Gortlee, Glencar and surrounding areas.

ESB crews have been mobilised to repair the fault. Electricity is expected to be restored by 1.30pm this afternoon.

ESB has apologised to customers for the loss of power and confirmed that they are working to repair the fault as quickly as possible.
