Almost 200 homes and business remain without power tonight after a major electricity outage hit parts of Letterkenny.

2,400 ESB customers in the Gortlee area were affected by a major fault which occurred before 9pm this Halloween night.

ESB crews carried out emergency repairs to restore supply to the majority of properties in the last hour.

170 properties remain in darkness tonight due to the fault. The latest update from ESB estimates that power will be restored at around 1am tonight.

Meanwhile, 45 homes are affected by an outage in the Trentagh area outside Letterkenny. The outage began at 9.23pm and supplies are expected to return by 1.30am in this region.
