Listen: ‘An unbelievable feeling’ – Finn Harps ‘keeper Mark Anthony McGinley

GOALKEEPER Mark Anthony McGinley felt relieved last night as Finn Harps secured their place in the 2020 Premier Division.

They had to go through the mill and endure extra time, but a 2-0 win over Drogheda United in the second leg of their play-off means Harps will again be a top flight team next year.

McGinley’s ninth clean sheet of the season was priceless as Harps took the win.

“It’s hard to describe it,” McGinley told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling. It’s probably relief more than anything.

“The Premier Division is where you want to play. It’s where the best teams and the best players in the country are. There is a big difference in standard. We’re just delighted to be there for another season.”

Chasing a 1-0 deficit from Monday’s first leg, Harps hit back as Mark Russell’s goal after seven minutes paved the way. In extra time, Harry Ascroft headed home a memorable winner.

McGinley said: “We were disappointed on Monday and we didn’t do ourselves justice. We’re just delighted to get over the hurdle.”
