Virgin Media Ireland may cut up to 65 jobs over the coming month in an effort to improve growth, it has emerged.
The company, which provides telecom, mobile and TV production services, currently employs 1,600 people in Ireland.
“We are entering a new phase of transformation to ensure continued revenue growth,” a spokesperson said in a statement to RTE.
“This involves making some difficult decisions which will impact a number of roles in the Virgin Media Ireland business.
“It is envisaged that up to 65 roles may potentially be impacted and we have entered a 30-day consultation period with people impacted.”
Virgin Media Ireland is a subsidiary of Liberty Global, which is owned by Irish American billionaire, John Malone.
In 2015, the then telecoms company UPC Ireland rebranded as Virgin Media.
Virgin Media then bought TV station TV3 the same year and rebranded to Virgin Media last year.
It also launched a mobile phone service.
