The Ballyshannon Marlins Swim Club is this week mourning the loss of popular former club member Aisling O’Connor.
Aisling (21), from Ballyshannon, passed away on Monday following a tragic kayaking accident on Saturday in Kerry.
Marlins SC was just one of the many local groups where the young science student made her mark.
A bright young woman who touched many lives, she is being fondly remembered amidst the shock and sadness that surrounds her death.
In a tribute shared online, the swim club recalled Aisling’s positive impact on young members:
“Aisling was a member of Marlins SC for many years and volunteered her time to help assist with the junior squads. With her bubbly fun-loving personality, she was a very popular coach and had a very positive impact on all those she worked with.
“After completing the LC, Aisling went on to the University of Limerick where she was studying Biochemistry.
“A beautiful young life, taken far too soon – Rest in Peace Aisling”
Members expressed their sincere sympathies to Aisling’s family and the extended Begley and O’Connor families.
Funeral details are to be confirmed.
