Abusive man asked Gardaí for brothel, court hears

November 10, 2019

A DONEGAL man who aggressively waved his fists at Gardaí while shouting ‘who the f*** do you think you are?’ has been fined in court.

Joseph Kerr (40) of Monuienegh, Ballyheerin, was before Letterkenny District Court charged in connection with the incident on September 29, 2015.

Gardaí were on mobile patrol on the Ramelton Road when they observed Kerr being ejected from a nightclub.

After being directed to leave the area under the public order act, Kerr asked Gardaí: ‘Where is the nearest brothel?’

Kerr walked up the street before approaching Gardaí and becoming abuse. Kerr, who was ‘unsteady’ at the time, was arrested.

Mr KIeran O’Gorman, solicitor for Kerr, said that his client, who has no previous convictions, called to Letterkenny Garda Station to apologise for the incident.

Judge Paul Kelly ordered Kerr to pay €250 of a fine to the Letterkenny Youth and Community Club and remanded all matters to the December 2 sitting of the court.
