Listen: Jason Gibson relishing Bonagee’s Intermediate Cup test

BONAGEE UNITED manager Jason Gibson says the opportunities and rewards are huge as his side get ready to host Munster Senior League side Lakewood Athletic.

Bonagee welcome Lakewood to Dry Arch Park with a place in the last 16 of the New Balance FAI Intermediate Cup up for grabs (Saturday, kick-off 4pm).

“It’s good to get a home draw, but we’re going into the unknown in a way,” Gibson told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“This competition is good exposure for the club and it’s a chance to get into the last 16, which would get us into the senior cup.

“That’s where I believe this club should be. It’s good to be at this stage.”

Bonagee will be without the unavailable Mark Harkin and Dan O’Donnell, while Sean Hume is doubtful.

Bonagee – who won the Knockalla Caravans Senior Cup last season – have had a positive start to the new campaign with a 1-0 loss at Cockhill on Sunday representing their first reversal of the new term.

Gibson said: “We were disappointed with the performance last Sunday. We didn’t do ourselves justice. There isn’t much between the sides, any of the sides. There’s a bounce of the ball or a refereeing decision in these games.”

Jason started by discussing Bonagee’s opponents. Listen to the full interview below …
