The Donegal Town community is celebrating a major achievement tonight after winning the prestigious Pride of Place 2019 award.

The award celebrates the best in community development and recognises the selfless efforts of people in making their local neighbourhoods better places to live, work and socialise.

The Donegal Town Community Chamber was announced as the overall IPB Pride of Place winners at a ceremony in Kilkenny’s Lyrath Hotel this Saturday night.

The award was presented to Ernan and Mary McGettigan of the Donegal Town Chamber.

The prize comes during a bumper year of success for Donegal Town. Having won the title of Ireland’s Foodiest Town 2019 in August, the new award brings even more recognition to the community effort, voluntary contributions and development of Donegal Town.

Donegal Town is buzzing with Christmas festivities this weekend following the annual lights switch-on.  Locals and visitors alike have enjoyed A Little Taste of Christmas in Donegal Town, shopping sprees, food tours and the Savour the Flavour event in local hotels, cafes and restaurants all weekend.
