Gardai are investigating the theft of a substantial amount of equipment from a fishing vessel in Inishowen.

A fishing vessel docked at Moville Pier was targeted by thieves.

The gang broke into the wheelhouse of the boat and stole a number of items.

The stolen items include external controls, a pressure control valve and a helm pump.

The robbery took place between 4.30pm on Friday, November 29th and 3.30pm on Monday, November 2nd.

Garda Sgt Charlene Anderson said this is very specialist equipment.

She appealed to anybody within the fishing industry who may be offered such equipment to contact Buncrana Garda station.

“This equipment is of substantial value and we would appeal to anybody who is offered this equipment to get in touch with us,” she said.
