Barry Doherty ends term as Kilcar manager

Kilcar’s 2017 Donegal SFC winning manager Barry Doherty has stepped aside at Towney after three years at the helm.

Doherty is tipped to be replaced by John McNulty, who last managed the club in 2015 when they lost to Naomh Conaill in the Donegal SFC semi-final.

Having taken over from Martin McHugh right at the start of the 2017 season, Doherty guided Kilcar to an All-County Football League and Donegal SFC title in his first year in charge. A 0-7 to 0-4 win over Naomh Conaill preceded an Ulster Club win over Scotstown before losing to Slaughtneil from Derry in an entertaining provincial semi-final.

Kilcar retained the Division 1 crown in 2018, but were beaten in the quarter-finals of the 2018 Donegal SFC by Naomh Conaill and the semi-finals this year, when they went down to Gaoth Dobhair.
