A warning has been issued to pet owners and farmers following several mink attacks in the Donegal Town area.

A number of hens have been attacked in the Drumrooske of the town, according to Animals in Need Donegal.

The group is warning anyone with small pets to be vigilant for the creatures, which are an invasive species and can kill small animals that are kept outside.

“Anybody with rabbits, hens, guineapig or birds aviaries need to be on the lookout and make sure all is locked up tightly,” said a spokesperson for AIN Donegal.
