Watch: Trevor Alcorn and Termon minors aim for Ulster progress

TREVOR Alcorn says his Termon minors are aiming to continue the good run of Donegal clubs in Ulster competition.

Termon take on Emyvale on Sunday in the quarter-final of the Ulster Minor Football Tournament, hosted by St Paul’s.

Termon are brimming with confidence after last weekend’s preliminary round win over Silverbridge as they get set to face the Monaghan outfit on Sunday at Colaiste Feirste (throw-in 4pm).

“When you go into Ulster you don’t know where you’re at,” Alcorn told Jerome Quinn Media.

“Even people in Donegal used to chat like it was a bonus to get into Ulster. We were never really at the races, but then when you take the likes of Gaoth Dobhair leading the way –  they proved that they were one of the best teams in the country last year – and Glenties progressed very well this year.

“It just shows that Donegal teams are doing something right and are improving.”

Ryan McFadden’s penalty helped Termon to a 1-10 to 0-6 win over Silverbridge last Sunday.

Bobbie McGettigan and Stephen Black weighed in with a pair of points apiece for the Burn Road side, who have also a Donegal Minor League final to be pencilled in over the coming weeks.

Alcorn hopes that Kevin McGettigan, Brian McGettigan and Aaron Reid will be closer to fitness again and he says his men are hopeful of a big result.

He said: “I hope we don’t let the side down. We expected to get over the line. There is no good in coming here expecting to lose. We wanted to get past the prelim and get into the quarter-finals. I was delighted with their performance too.”
