The unfinished state of a road in Annagry following water upgrade works has been criticised as ‘unacceptable’.
Parts of An Mhín Iochtaraigh road have been left as a gravel track without tarmac, Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig said, after water upgrade works were carried out in the area.
The Glenties area councillor said he was furious with the council for not fulfilling an agreement that the road would be resurfaced after works were completed.
He said: “Irish Water agreed that the whole road would be finished completely. You can see in the photograph on the left hand side where the works started but the council instead has decided not to finish the whole road as was agreed to an acceptable standard.
“A lot of hard work went into securing taxpayers’ money to carry out the new water line and residents were very patient during these works. This small section of the road is not going to be finished to the same standard as the rest of the road,” Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig said.
The councillor said he will call on the local authority to get the section finished, adding: “This is no reflection on the workers that have done a good job on site.”
