A freezing night of hail, sleet and snow is in store for Donegal tonight as temperatures drop to lows of -3C.
A Status Yellow Snow/Ice warning is in place for all counties this Saturday night, as Met Eireann warnings of wintry showers and localised accumulations of snow.
Snowfall will be worst on higher ground and there is a risk of icy stretches on roads and footpaths. There is also a risk of thunder, forecasters said.
The weather alert is in place until 11am on Sunday. Tomorrow will begin cold and frosty with a risk of icy patches.
Met Eireann said: “The day will bring a mix of sunshine and scattered showers. Some of the showers could be heavy with a risk of hail sleet and thunder. Afternoon highs of 3 to 5 degrees.”
All main routes will be gritted by Donegal County Council this evening from 5pm.
