Mickey’s 40th birthday tribute to the heroes of our lifeboat crews

A well-known Killybegs man has given up his chance of some nice 40th birthday presents after the heroics of Donegal’s lifeboats in rescuing five fishermen on Saturday afternoon last.

Mickey Byrne, who now lives in Greencastle, is currently out at sea fishing.

However, like thousands of other people, he was left in awe at the amazing response of the rescue lifeboats which rushed to help the stranded vessel 20 miles off Fanad Head on Saturday.

Thankfully all five were rescued despite the challenging seas which faced the rescue crews.

Mickey hits his milestone birthday next month.

But instead of presents, he is asking for donations instead of birthday presents so he can donate to help the amazing work carried out 365 days a year by these amazing volunteers.

All the information is below so if you know Mickey, or even if you don’t, donate what you can to this amazing cause this Christmas.

When we’re all having our Christmas dinner and watching TV, these guys could be out on a call again keeping us all safe at sea.

If you missed the heroics of what these volunteers on Saturday last then click on the video below.
