Susan McCauley is the founder of Cara House Resource Centre in Letterkenny which does trojan work for many aspects of the community. This is her vision for the year ahead.
“Cara House provides a valuable resource for the Letterkenny community, especially at periods in their lives when individuals are vulnerable.
“We welcome everyone with respect, offering peer support, friendship and acceptance.
“It is socially inclusive, with high quality services and activities offered at a rate that makes them accessible to all.
“For the past three years Cara House has been searching for a new premises.
“With the recession, space became a premium commodity in Cara House.
“Rooms were used in the daytime by adults and in the afternoons by the children attending the afterschool clubs.
“Donegal County Council came to the rescue offering space four days a week for activities that needed larger rooms in the Regional Cultural Centre.
“Everyone in Cara House and all who use it have a vision for 2020 and that is a new premise.
“A place that brings all aspects of our center together in one building rather than being spread all around the town!
“A place where everyone is welcome, fostering a growth of community and a sense of belonging in Letterkenny.
“A place where everyone – children, those with time on their hands and older people, have the space to enjoy activities, groups and classes that make their life fulfilling.
“A place where ideas and expertise are valued and included.
“We will feel delighted, happy, overwhelmed and enthusiastic for the next decade when this comes to fruition.”
