Opportunistic thieves carried out a burglary attempt at Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny while it was closed on Christmas Day.

The thieves smashed their way into the building on the evening of 25th December and attempted to break open a safe.

A window was damaged in the incident, but the suspects were unsuccessful in opening the office safe.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing to the public to report any suspicious sightings or any helpful information relating to the crime.

The burglary took place between 4.05pm and 4.15pm.

Any information can be reported to Letterkenny Garda Station on (074) 916 7100.
