The public is being warned to look out for wind-blown debris today as strong winds hit the north west.
A Status Yellow Wind Warning has been issued by Met Eireann for Donegal, Galway and Mayo.
Forecasters are warning that winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h. Conditions will be worst near coasts and on high ground
Winds will veer southwest towards the evening and may reach gale force inland as well for a time.
“Temperatures will be above average for the time of year, between 11 and 14 degrees,” said Met Eireann.
The weather warning takes effect from 1am Tuesday morning until 8pm tonight.
Gale and Small Craft Marine warnings are also in place today. “Winds will occasionally reach strong gale force 9 between Erris Head and Malin Head,” said forecasters.
