Falcarragh residents may be left without water overnight following another major mains burst.
The burst was reported in Falcarragh and Gortahork this Friday, while another burst affected customers in Bunbeg.
Irish Water has announced this evening that repair works are complete in Bunbeg and supplies should return to normal soon.
However, the problem in Falcarragh is not expected to be repaired until 12.30pm on Saturday.
Irish Water crews have been working on the issue and a traffic management system is in place for the duration of the works.
In light of this week’s bursts, local Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig has criticised changes in the Donegal water main rehabilitation project.
Earlier this week Irish Water announced that 6km of water mains will be replaced and rehabilitated in Donegal in 2020. The omission of Bunbeg from the scheduled works list is ‘unacceptable’, according to Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig.
He said: “Bunbeg was scheduled for works to be carried out this year but Irish Water has moved that money to another area. We have had four or five bursts in the last 3-5 days. When you consider that less than 6km of mains will be replaced in Donegal this year, that’s not good enough.”
