Donegal U20s come from behind in the rain to defeat Roscommon

OISIN WALSH hit a late point as Donegal Under-20s got their first win in the 2020 Leo Murphy Cup.

Donegal 0-7 Roscommon 0-6

Walsh’s point, with four minutes remaining, secured a come-from-behind win for Shaun Paul Barrett’s Donegal.

The game was moved from Sean MacCumhaill Park as heavy overnight rain rendered the Ballybofey pitch unplayable.

In pouring rain at Mundy’s Field in Ballyshannon, Donegal overturned a 0-5 to 0-3 half-time deficit to claim a valuable win.

Donegal needed a last-ditch point by Ronan Frain last weekend to earn an away draw at Derry.

Padraig McGettigan, Ethan Harkin and Aaron Doherty scored the first-half points here as Donegal trailed by two at the changeover.

Peter Gillooley (2), Adam McDermott (2) and Paul McGrath scored for Roscommon in the first half.

Roscommon hit the first point of the second half, through Gillooley, but the Connacht outfit wouldn’t score again for the remainder.

Frees by Ethan Harkin and goalkeeper Daithí Roberts inched Donegal ever closer.

Aaron Doherty drew the Tie Chonaill men level with 12 minutes to go and it was all to play for.

With the clock ticking, Bundoran defender Walsh riffled over to seal the win.

Donegal: Daithí Roberts (0-1f); Oisin Walsh (0-1), Conor O’Donnell, Conor Coll; Richard O’Rorke, Cormac Finn, Peter McEniff; Fionn Gallagher, Luke Gavigan; Aaron Doherty (0-2), Ethan Harkin (0-2, 1f), Ronan Frain; Conor McHugh, Padraig McGettigan (0-1), Keelan McGroddy. Subs: Rory O’Donnell, Jamie Crawford, Ryan McShane, Aaron McGlynn, Carlos O’Reilly, Johnny McGroddy.
