Unfinished Letterkenny road ‘like the ferry to Tory’

Driving on the Circular Road at Glencar Letterkenny has been compared to sailing the rough seas around Tory Island off Donegal.

Local Councillor Gerry McMonagle made the comparison at today’s Letterkenny-Milford council meeting as he called for the road to be resurfaced following recent Irish Water works.

Cllr McMonagle said that the bumps on the lower part of the Circular road are so extreme that they bring about feelings of seasickness for travellers.

“It’s totally unacceptable,” Cllr McMonagle said.

“It’s shocking and it will cause accidents.”

The Sinn Féin councillor called on the council roads department to provide information and a timescale on when the “cut up” road will be reinstated.

In a response, the local authority said that The Circular Road is programmed to be reinstated within the next 10 weeks.
