Gritters out as sleet forecast for Donegal

Donegal County Council will send out their gritters on many main routes as temperatures dip close to freezing tonight.

Met Eireann is forecasting a cold night this Wednesday with lows of 1 and 4 degrees early in the night.

Outbreaks of rain will develop in the north west and turn to sleet in higher parts of Donegal, forecasters warn.

“It will be windy overnight, with south to southeast winds becoming fresh to strong and gusty. Lowest temperatures will fall to between 1 and 4 degrees early in the night, but turning milder later.”

Donegal County Council gritters will be out on the following routes from 7pm:

  • 01: National Primary North
  • 02: National Primary Central
  • 03: National Primary South
  • 04: Inishowen South
  • 05: Inishowen East
  • 06: Inishowen West
  • 07: Milford South
  • 08: Milford North
  • 09: Cill Ulta East
  • 12: Binswilly
  • 13: Stranorlar North
  • 14: Stranorlar East
  • 15: Stranorlar West
  • 16: Donegal West
  • 17: Donegal North
  • 18: Donegal South
  • 19: Donegal National Secondary
  • LT: Letterkenny Town
  • BT: Buncrana Town Council
