Repair work underway on collapsed footpath in Lifford

Investigations have begun into the cause of a collapsed footpath in Lifford town centre.

The path on Bridge Street was cordoned off by Gardai last weekend after a section subsided.

This is not the first time that parts of the path have fallen in, and the latest incident has prompted the council to begin works to investigate the cause and to carry out remedial works.

Cllr Gerry Crawford has welcomed the latest development and acknowledged the speed with which the council acted since he raised this matter on Saturday last.

“Hopefully this eases concerns which existed about this problem,” Cllr Crawford concluded.
