Cllr calls for action amid safety concerns at Logues Bridge

COUNCILLOR Patrick McGowan has called on Donegal County Council to advance works on Logues Bridge.

Councillor McGowan asked that senior management begin route detection and design work on a two-lane bridge.

“The Council had to stall work on Louge’s bridge in 2017 while the TenT Bypass route was being selected,” Lifford Stranorlar area Councillor McGowan said.

“A commitment was given in writing that design work would begin as soon the TenT route was known.

“Logues Bridge has both weight and height restriction imposed for several years now and is not fit for purpose.

“Locals are asking if the bridge has to collapse before anything will be done.”

Councillor McGowan has raised concerns surrounding the safety of the bridge.

He said: “Not only only is the bridge itself dangerous but the junction beside the bride is extremely dangerous to traffic entering and existing the bridge.

“I have written to senior roads management in the Council demanding that work recommence on getting a new replacement bridge.”
