The Green Party say they will bring more than €1million into the local economy this year.

Michael White, Green Party candidate for Donegal, highlighted the boost when announcing the venue and date for the Party’s annual conference.

“We can now confirm that the Green Party National Convention will take place in the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny on June 26th to 28th. With 600 delegates plus national media spending three days here, the direct expenditure impact will be worth €600,000 and there will be further indirect spin-offs from television and newspaper coverage worth an additional €400,000”.

All local hotels will benefit from the influx of guests and the local Green Party group will be organizing a schedule of visits to tourist attractions and venues across the county.

“This is a really high-profile opportunity to showcase all of Donegal. We plan to bring people to the Glenties, Fanad, Inishowen and other parts of the county so they can see what we can offer.

“And we achieved this boost to the local economy with a small team from the Donegal Greens – Conal O’Boyle, Vincent Treanor, Ciaran O’Fearraigh, Ciaran McConway and Nuala Carr. It shows the impact you can have when you work together to benefit your county”.
