The grand total raised from December’s Rathmullan Polar Plunge has amounted to an amazing €17,147.60.

That’s €5,000 more than the previous year’s total, and the largest amount out of every Polar Plunge across Ireland!

All proceeds will go towards Special Olympics Ireland and a team of VIPs from Little Angels Special School had the honour of being presented with the large cheque on Friday.

The 2019 Polar Plunge attracted hundreds of people to Rathmullan Pier on the 7th of December, where TV commentator Joe Brolly was the star attraction. Crowds enjoyed seeing Brolly get ‘chilly in the Swilly’ as he took the plunge for a great cause.

Other brave divers included the Gardaí, army and coastguard as well as community groups and individuals.

The Polar Plunge committee has issued a huge thank you to each individual, agency, company and organisation that helped, supported, sponsored and attended the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event for 2019.
