Blow for Harps as Mark Timlin suffers serious knee injury

FINN Harps have been dealt a big blow with the news that Mark Timlin has suffered a serious knee injury.

Timlin was forced off during last Sunday’s friendly against UCD at the Belfield Bowl.

The Buncrana man had the injury assessed and the extent of the damage is such that the left-sided player’s season could be over before it has even begun.

Timlin – who was among the early names to confirm his future at Finn Park in late 2019 – faces a lengthy period of rehabilitation.

The former Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic player had been a key member of the Harps squad and endured a tough time with injuries during 2019.

Harps were back in action last night as they lost 2-1 against Longford Town. New signing Kosovar Sadiki, who is on loan from Hibernian, scored the Harps goal.

Harps included Leo Donnellan, a former QPR youth, in their side last night. The attacking midfielder, who has been capped at underage level by the Republic of Ireland, is a son of former Fulham player Leo Donnellan.

Shaun Kelly, the Killybegs-born former Limerick player, who has signed in recent days, made his first appearance in the Harps colours.
