Listen: Jason Gibson reflects on ‘a harsh, harsh lesson’

IT WAS a strange mix of emotions for Bonagee United manager Jason Gibson as his side were put out of the FAI Intermediate Cup yesterday.

College Corinthians took a 2-0 win as Evan Galvin and Daragh O’Sullivan-Connell scored two in the space of a minute in the first half.

The goals came against the run of play and Bonagee were left to curse a hatful of squandered chances, including an early penalty.

Gibson, though, was upbeat.

“We want to keep it as positive as we can,” Gibson told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“Last year, we were put out of this competition by a better side. I don’t think you could say that today.  You can beat yourselves at times. We had numerous chances and we didn’t take them. Then, we found ourselves two-nil down.

“We write this one off as a harsh, harsh lesson.”

Gibson and Bonagee have a busy period from now until the end of the season with the Dry Arch men pushing hard for honours.

Gibson said: “We have four competitions left to play in now. From what I saw today, we’re as good as anyone that’s about the League and we’ll have a big say in the competitions.”
