Six from Donegal set to glove off at National Senior Cadet Championships

THERE IS A low Donegal entry for the 2020 National Senior Cadet Championships.

Six boxers from Donegal’s clubs have entered, including 2019 European Junior bronze medallist Carleigh Irving (above).

The Illies Golden Gloves woman has until February 21 to get ready for a 48kgs semi-final against Siofra McGuire from Tobar Pheadair.

The 2018 Irish Girl 3 champion Branda Collins from Dunree is among the Donegal entrants. Collins isn’t in action until Saturday-week, February 15, when she faces Drimnagh’s Georgia McGovern in a 50kgs quarter-final.

This weekend Raphoe ABC’s Aaron McDaid and Dunfanaghy ABC’s Bernie McDonagh get underway with McDaid against Fr Flanagans’ Daniel Murphy at 52kgs on Friday and McDonagh meeting Patrick O’Driscoll of Corpus Christi at 54kgs on Saturday.

Those bouts are in preliminary rounds of their categories.

On Friday-week, in quarter-finals, Illies’ Jason Lynch meets Gerard Delaney of Bunclogy at 42kgs and Dunfanaghy’s Cormac Hall is against Oisin Worsencroft from St Colman’s at 44kgs.
