Independent election candidate Peter Casey is planning to take a rest from politics after losing out on two bids for a seat in the Dáil.
The Donegal-Derry businessman ran in both the Donegal and Dublin-West constituencies in this election.
He is third-last in the final tally in Donegal, with 1,142 first preference votes. He was eliminated on the second count in Dublin West.
However, after a Presidential, European Parliament and a Dáil Éireann bid in recent years, Casey has admitted that it’s time to take a step back.
He talks to Charlie Collins about his thoughts on the Sinn Féin surprise and future of the government.
“I think there will be another election within the next two months or three,” Casey said.
The first count is yet to begin in the Aura centre this evening.
