A man accused of seriously assaulting a woman on a number of occasions.

Muhammad Qaisar of 3 Castle Street, Ramelton, was charged with allegedly assaulting the woman causing harm on two separate occasions on Friday, January 24 and Saturday January 25 at the same address.

The 31-year-old was also charged with assaulting the woman again on January 27 and causing criminal damage to her mobile phone.

Garda Dowling told Judge Paul Kelly at Carndonagh District Court that he arrested the defendant at his home address and brought him to Milford Garda Station where he made no reply when charged.

The guard said he had no objection to bail, however, he asked the judge to impose a number of conditions.

Garda Inspector Siobhan Mollohan told the court she was seeking an adjournment as well as directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Judge Kelly granted Qaisar bail on his own bond of €250.

However, he imposed a number of conditions, including that he make no contact with the injured party or witnesses, surrender his passport, remain living at 3 Castle Street and sign on three times a week at Letterkenny Garda Station. He adjourned the matter to the March 9 sitting of Letterkenny District Court for DPP directions.
