INISHOWEN schoolgirl Ellie Long will be part of the Under 15 Girls’ Republic of Ireland Schools for a pair of friendlies.

Carndonagh Community School player Long is on the squad named by Richard Berkeley for games against Northern Ireland and England.

The friendlies are in preparation for the Bob Docherty Cup.

These useful excursions will be an opportunity for the 18 players to confirm their place on the flight to Lilleshall as the squad jet off on April 14 to take on Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland in the three-day International tournament.

Northern Ireland will be first up as they visit Dublin on Saturday, February 29 while England will pop over to the Capital to compete in the John Read Trophy a week later on Saturday, March 7.

Long has been capped for Sue Ronan’s Ireland U16 squad and she netted in a 3-1 win for the Schools squad over Galway’s U17s last week.

Long is the sole Ulster survivor from last year’s squad.
