Inquest into death of well-known Churchill man set for two days

The inquest into the death of Churchill man Seamus Doherty is now due to be held in April.

Coroner Dr Denis McCauley has set aside two days for the inquest which will be heard at Letterkenny courthouse.

The well-known 67-year-old was found dead at his home at Drumacanoo, Churchill, in June 2012.

Gardai initially thought his death was accidental but the case was escalated to a murder case.

A man was charged with his murder but the case was dropped by the State after a key witness died.

Mr Doherty’s family have been very vocal about the manner in which the case was handled by Gardai.

Dr McCauley said he may mention the inquest once more but setting a firm date.
