CARLEIGH Irving sealed her place in the finals of the National Senior Cadet Championships last night.

The Illies Golden Gloves woman overcame Siofra McGuire (Tobar Pheadair) in a 48kgs semi-final.

Irving took a unanimous decision on her way to an impressive triumph.

The Illies ace was a bronze medalist at the 2019 European Schoolboy and Schoolgirl Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. Irving defeated Turkish boxer Ozkan Pinar at 46kgs to get a place on the podium.

That came after Irving beat Angelina Duffy in the Irish Cadet final and now she’s back to the National Stadium for a final next week.

Irving will meet Kanturk’s Katie O’Keefe in the final on Friday.

Later today, Dunfanaghy duo Cormac Hall and Bernie McDonagh take to the canvas for their Cadet semi-finals.
