Donegal is set to experience another wintry night tonight in the aftermath of Storm Jorge.
After a cold and blustery Sunday, temperatures are forecast to drop further tonight bringing a risk of sleet and snow to the north west.
A Status Yellow Snow/Ice Warning will be in place for the country from midnight tonight until 8am tomorrow (Monday).
Met Eireann warns that it will be a cold night with a widespread frost and icy patches.
The forecast said: “Showers will become more scattered and confined to western counties early tonight but they will be wintry overnight with some falling as sleet and snow in places.
“Minimum temperatures of 0 to -2 degrees Celsius, a little higher on the north and northwest coast. Winds will be moderate west to southwest, fresh on the coasts.”
Donegal County Council plans to dispatch gritters to treat all main roads from 7pm.
Monday will begin with a cold start with widespread frost and icy patches clearing during the morning, the forecast said.
