Comedian Rory tells his stories to Rosses AC students

COMEDIAN Rory O’Connor of Rory’s Stories fame, was a special guest at Rosses Community School yesterday.

The County Meath native, who has become an internet sensation in recent years, with his often-witty yet sometimes-serious videos, spent the day at the Dungloe school.

Rory accepted an invite from Rosses CS Principal John Gorman, who asked him to come in and talk to the students.

“They do things a little different to most schools,” Rory said in a post on Facebook.

“You’re not judged by the four walls of a classroom or by spelling or algebra, life is much bigger than that.

“Certain people will excel in school and some people simply won’t. When I was in school you were either smart or stupid. End of.

“This is so far away from the truth and kids need to be told this everyday, build confidence in them, help them fulfil their destiny, everyone is different.”

A passionate GAA supporter, Rory made his name with videos that were GAA-centred, but has broadened his topics and has delivered some extremely important and valuable life lessons through his skits.

Rory told the students at Rosses CS how he ‘struggled big time in school’.

He added: “I’m very passionate about telling my story and hope students don’t let the education system define them. Everyone has huge potential and should be encouraged to pursue that.”
