Donegal County Councils new Business Concierge Service was launched earlier today as part of the council’s Business Breakfast event in the Radisson Hotel in Letterkenny.
Officially launching this new service Leas Chathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Cllr. Niamh Kennedy explained the new service is part of the Councils commitment to continuing to support businesses in Donegal and businesses planning to relocate to Donegal.
She said “It is about helping businesses navigate Council services by connecting them with key services and personnel.
“This new Concierge service provides a dedicated point of contact to connect businesses with a wide range of services within Donegal County Council, to address the needs of businesses across a range of areas including access to key Council service areas and advice on issues such as property solutions and digital connectivity.
“The Business Concierge Service operates alongside other Council services including the Local Enterprise Office, which already provides an extensive range of specific business advice and financial supports to micro business start-up and expansion”.
Speaking at the event which was hosted as part of Local Enterprise Week, Chief Executive of Donegal County Council Seamus Neely explained that the Council are focused on continuing to develop and deepen the economic base of the county and that this will form a core part of the agenda for the newly established Economic Development Division in the Council.

He said “This work is being developed within the national policy context including the National Planning Framework. Through a range of strong collaborative measures, we aim to build on the social and economic fabric of the county by having a strong and vibrant economic core.
“We plan to achieve this through enhanced levels of collaborations, led internally by the Economic Development Division and the Local Enterprise Office but also externally though our work with partners such as the ETB, LYIT, IDA and Enterprise Ireland”.
The event, which was hosted as part of the national Local Enterprise Week programme of events, also heard from well-known business journalist and Dragons Den presenter Richard Curran who shared his thoughts on Brexit and how Donegal businesses can maximize opportunities presented by the changing circumstances.
Listing change as one of the most challenging issues presented by Brexit Richard Curran said that change can be daunting but that “while change can be worrying and can be challenging, it can also be an opportunity.”
He added “Brexit presents businesses with an opportunity to look at how they are operating and question if things can be done better.”
Various insights, views and perspectives on Brexit and the opportunities for businesses where shared by the discussion panel which included Eleanor Hanna, Hanna Hats, Toni Forrestor, Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, Paul Byrne, Radisson Hotel Letterkenny and Eugene McBrearty, Ker Engineering with Garry Martin, Director of Economic Development with Donegal County Council chairing the discussion.
