€30,000 funding has been allocated for new traffic calming measures at Drumboe Brea Stranorlar.

This road is regularly used as a bypass of Ballybofey/Stranorlar, but residents and visitors entering and leaving the many houses along this route have been seriously concerned at the speed and careless driving by some drivers.

In recent years, residents had demanded action from Donegal County Council road’s department and a petition was submitted on the issue.

€30,000 has now been secured under the 2020 low cost accident remedial scheme, Cllr Patrick McGowan confirmed.

“Donegal County Council road’s design office will begin designing a traffic calming solution which will be put in place later this year, I want particularly to thank Margaret Wilkie who has been pushing for traffic calming over many years and the late Tommy Gallagher who died last year not long after we met,” said Cllr McGowan.
