THE LAST two finals in the North West Zones took place in Letterkenny on Tuesday evening.

There were wins for Illies Golden Gloves man Cahir Gormley (pictured above) and Thomas Brolly from St John’s, Derry.

Gormley defeated Cody Lee Peoples of Ballykelly in the Boy 6, 60kgs final. Gormley took a unanimous decision verdict from the judges at ringside.

In the Boy 5, 57kgs final, Brolly took a 4-1 split decision against Conleth McCann from Moneyglass.

Gormley and Brolly go on to Sunday’s Ulster finals with the rest of the North West Zones finals having taken place at the weekend. A total of 62 boxers took part, 49 male and 13 female. A total of 27 of the participants came from ten Donegal clubs with 35 coming from 11 clubs in Derry.

The Ulster finals will be held on Sunday at Deele College, Raphoe. Weigh-in is from 9-10am with boxing getting underway at 11.30am.
