Ireland has recorded its first death from the Covid-19 coronavirus.
The patient died earlier today in a hospital in the east of the country.
According to the Irish Times, the patient initially presented with respiratory symptoms and was later diagnosed with coronavirus when staff administered a test.
The patient is understood to be elderly.
