The Donegal Association in Dublin has cancelled its Gala Ball which was due to take place this weekend.

Noel Cunningham was due to receive the honour of Donegal Person of the Year at the event at the Ballsbridge Hotel.

SPoeksperosn Siobhan Shovlin said the ball will now be cancelled.

She said “In the interest of health and safety the Donegal Association have made the decision to postpone the Annual Gala Ball which was due to take place this Saturday night in the Ballsbridge Hotel.

“The Ballsbridge Hotel have been very understanding and supportive of the decision and for anyone who has rooms booked these will be refunded.

“All tickets sold will be valid for our rescheduled Ball later in the year or refunds will be made.”

She said Noel’s primary concern is the duty of care towards the hundreds of guests due to attend and is looking forward to making the night bigger and better later in the year.

She added “We hope everyone understands our position and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“Further updates will follow over the coming days. Thank you once again for your continued support to our association.”
